About Jessica
Jessica was born and raised in Greenville – a small town in northeast Texas. Â During those early years, she could be found playing with my little pony figurines, lining up her stuffed animals at “the movies” in her living room, dancing around on camera with her big brother, and taking naps in sheet tents made with love by her parents.
While she was growing up, she quickly fell in love with music, just like her parents, and began learning to play the piano at 5. Over the years when she wasn’t practicing piano (or trying to get out of it), she went to tee ball practice and ballet, jazz, and tap classes, to name a few. Â Though her ballet slippers no longer fit, she still plays the piano, along with the rest of her family; in fact, music – piano and singing, writing, and crafts are some of her favorite hobbies as an adult.
Inquisitive and spunky as a kid, her parents were patient with her incessant questions about what causes sneezes and hiccups, and why is the sky blue and why…  She was curious then and today still loves to analyze the causes and effects in life.  In fact, this curiosity led her as an adult to pursue the study of psychology at Baylor University. During college she served as a volunteer advocate and worked to bring hope and comfort to people in pain. Since then she has worked in various agency settings and had multiple opportunities to comfort people victimized by various crimes; this continues to be one of her interests and passions.  In 2009, she completed a masters degree in Social Work, and she currently works as the Counselor at the Family Abuse Center – a shelter for victims of domestic violence.
Jessica’s parents, Barry and Kathie, are the definitely the best people she knows and have been the biggest blessing in her life, hands down. Â Their perseverance, integrity, graciousness, loving support, and Christ-like example has not gone unnoticed, and she feels honored to be their daughter. Â Jessica’s older brother, Jarrod, is a talented artist, musician, and pastor, who speaks with passion and leads with conviction. Â He has been the best “Bubba” to his little sis, and she is thrilled he’ll be marrying her to Jason.
Finally, Jessica is oh-so-excited and blessed to be marrying her best friend – a man she loves, respects, and trusts. Â (I love you, Jason! Â You are my stud!)
About Jason
Jason grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico surrounded by the mountains, forests, and the most beautiful sunsets you can imagine. Â During this time, Jason learned of his love for all things outdoors. Â As a kid, he enjoyed hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, backpacking, fishing, and skiing. Â Early on, Jason also developed an interest in photography and it is still one of his favorite hobbies today.
Professionally, Jason works at KWTX-TV in Waco as the Director of Technical Operations. Â He is in charge of all of the technical support staff that makes the newscasts happen and keep the TV station on the air. Â Jason also works part-time as an EMT for East Texas Medical Center EMS.
Jason’s parents, Mark and Deirdre, still live in Santa Fe.  Mark is a Realtor and Deirdre is an Administrative Assistant at a local hospital.  They have always supported Jason in everything that he has done and he feels so lucky to have been raised by such wonderful parents!
There is another member of the family that just can’t be left out: Jason’s 5 1/2-year-old Australian Shepherd, Chili. Â Jason got Chili in 2006 when she was approximately 9 months old. Â He got her from a rescue organization in Houston where she had been found roaming the streets hungry, dehydrated, and sunburned. Â Chili has fallen in love with Jessica as well and relentlessly searches for her when she is not around!
Jason feels so blessed to have met the love of his live, his perfect match, and his favorite person!
(I love you Jessica!)
How We Met
April 16th, 2008. Â Jason and Jay Pearson decided to go downtown for hot wings and to hang out with some other friends. Â For the most part, it was a bunch of EMT’s, Paramedics, and EMS students.
Jay said that he wanted to see just how many people he could get to come out that night, so he started calling and texting everyone he could think of; Jessica just happened to be one of those people. Â Jason and Jay had headed over from the restaurant to Cricket’s Bar and Grill next-door. Â Everyone was shooting pool and playing shuffleboard when Jessica arrived as a response to Jay’s invitation.
When she got there, one of Jay’s other friends started talking to her. Â Jason had no idea who she was, or if she was even with our group. Â He wanted to go say “hi” to her, but she seemed pretty deep in conversation with this other guy. Â It came time for Cricket’s to shut down, and that was when Jay introduced everyone to Jessica. Â Jason and Jessica started talking and getting to know each other.
No one in the group wanted the night to end yet, so everyone decided to head over to the local Taco Cabana (which used to be open 24-hours then, a favorite late-night study-break  spot for Baylor students).  Jessica wasn’t sure she wanted to, but Jason convinced her that she’d have fun (plus, who can pass up 2am Tortillas and Queso?!).  Jason and Jessica spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other.  They both seemed to really hit it off!
Jason forgot one important thing that night, though: he didn’t get her phone number! Â Fortunately for him, he saw Jay a few days later and asked him to talk to her and see if it would be okay for him to give her number to Jason. Â Jessica told Jay that was fine and Jason called her. Â A few days later, Jason and Jessica set up their first date (they went to Logan’s Roadhouse for dinner and then went to see “Baby Mama” at the theater). Â After their third date, they were inseparable.
